'Landman' Season 2 Finale: Showrunner Teases 'Explosive' End for T.L. Norris
"Exclusive preview of the Jan 18 finale, implying a major character exit and setting up Season 3."
Landman showrunner Christian Wallace dropped some major breadcrumbs about the upcoming Season 2 finale in an exclusive chat with Deadline, and fans should probably start preparing their therapy sessions now.
"Explosive" in Every Sense
With the January 18 finale fast approaching, speculation is running rampant about who will survive the season. When asked directly about the fate of Sam Elliott's T.L. Norris, Wallace was cryptic but ominous.
"T.L. came into this season representing the past that Tommy was running from," Wallace said. "By the finale, he represents the future Tommy has to protect. But in the world of Landman, protection usually comes at a very high cost. I'd say the finale is... explosive. In every sense of the word. We are blowing up the status quo."
Season 3 Setup: Going Global
Wallace also hinted at a "game-changing" cliffhanger that sets up the confirmed Season 3. "We're not just closing the chapter on the Gallino cartel storyline," he teased. "We're opening a door to a whole new level of the energy game. Think bigger. Think global."
This aligns with fan theories that Tommy might be forced to leave the Permian Basin. Rumors have circulated that production may move partially to New Mexico or even international locations for Season 3, aligning with a potential plotline involving global energy exports and cross-border pipelines.
The finale will reportedly feature a "20-minute sequence" that took two weeks to film, involving pyrotechnics that rival anything Sheridan did on Yellowstone. "It's the biggest thing we've ever done," Wallace promised.
The Season 2 finale, titled "The Earth Bleeds," streams Jan 18 on Paramount+.
